Today the Vergina Sun is part of a range of national symbols of Greece and Northern Macedonia (former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)).
Here you can download an ancient Macedonian royal symbol (Vergina, Vergina Sun, Macedonian/Argead Star, Star of Vergina or Macedonian Star).
This symbol, characterizes Ancient Greece between the 6th and 2nd century BC. However, there is evidence suggesting that it had been used long before that period. As it was found on a case which is considered to have belonged to Philip II of Macedon (father of the Alexander the Great), a lot of archaeologists are apt to believe that it is the symbol of the Argead royal dynasty. Some archaeologists, on the other hand, argue that the rayed solar symbol of the Vergina Sun is merely a simple decoration or a religious symbol. Different versions of it appear in the Ancient Greek art - with 16, 12 or 8 triangular rays.
In the picture you can see what the symbol looks like, and if you can think of any good idea to use it - its 2D CAD (.dwg) and vector (.svg or .eps) file formats are at your disposal.
