Here you can download a collection of 23 Indian frieze patterns. All the patterns come from two old books with the theme of history of decorative art.

Beneath the pictures of most of the patterns in the collection it read "Stucco parapets from various buildings at Bijapur". Unfortunately, we can't say how old these band patterns are because we couldn't find any information about it in the books. Many of these Indian frieze patterns resemble Islamic patterns from the Middle Ages, and given that Bijapur was under Islamic influence in the second half of the Middle Ages, their age and artistic style may be defined upon this fact. We have drawn them because of their simple elegance that could probably be useful in someone’s work.

The patterns have been accurately drawn in 2D CAD software, and we believe that once you have downloaded them there won’t be any need for their editing. It’s too bad that all the pictures of these Indian frieze patterns were black and white so we won't be able to help you with their coloring. Apart from that, you can use them to make borders of various shapes and sizes in 2D CAD or vector software, which takes a little time and drawing effort, but as a result you will obtain Indian border patterns of the same quality and beauty as these frieze patterns.
