This is an Etruscan ornament seen on a vase artifact discovered at a site that belonged to the Etruscan civilization.

The Etruscans were ancient tribes who lived in the territory of pre-Roman Italy. They created a great civilization, which had a tremendous influence on the Ancient Romans. They taught them numbers and the alphabet, and influenced the development of art, architecture and religion of Ancient Rome. Etruscan civilization lasted from 8th to 4th century BC, when it gradually passed under the political system of Ancient Rome.
