In the collection which you can download here, there are 7 vector designs, which we called the “Ornament brushes”.

These ornamental patterns were found in an old book that was actually a collection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco patterns by famous artists such as Alphonse Mucha, Maurice Verneuil and Georges Auriol. These 7 patterns were randomly selected, drawn, painted the same colors as in the book and offered here for download. We added the word ‘brushes’ to the name of the collection because the ornament pieces look like they were drawn with a brush.

These decorative brushes are available either as a 2D CAD sketch in .dwg file format or a vector illustration in .svg and .eps file formats.

In earlier times, the brush was often used to draw patterns and ornaments, as by combining low and high pressure achieved with the brush on paper the thickness of lines and curves could be regulated. This way you could easily draw beautiful curves of variable thickness. Such curves can also be found under the name ‘scrolls’. A typical drawing and writing technique that uses this effect is calligraphy. These once modern and nowadays interesting and unusual ornamental patterns can still serve their purpose, i.e., decorate an item or be part of a more intricate design pattern. Due to their simplicity, these ornaments are suitable for decorating  in various techniques.
