French curves are templates/instruments made of metal, wood or plastic. They are used for drawing or verifying mathematical curves and prove to be particularly useful tools if you need to draw curves of various shapes during your work. Due to the use of CAD/CAM software and CNC machines, French curves are rarely used in modern production, but in a variety of small workshops they are still irreplaceable because they provide the cheapest way to draw or check complex mathematical curves.
French curve templates are available either as a 2D CAD sketch (2D profile) in .dwg file format or a vector illustration in .svg and .eps formats.
In case you need some different shape, you can obtain it by modifying one of the offered templates. Another solution is to draw the desired templates yourself. There is a large number of images of French curves on the Internet, and you can quickly draw them in a 2D CAD or vector program.
