In the picture below you can see a free pattern named the Interlaced Saracenic repeating pattern.

Leonardo da Vinci spent a lot of  time studying interlaced patterns, but unfortunately only a few of his works have survived until today. The pattern which you can download here is based on a rough sketch from one of Leonardo's notebooks. It is very similar to Saracen interlaced patterns (a similar pattern can be found on a 14th-century dome panel in Cairo). The Saracens used to be the real masters of making interlaced patterns at that time.

As with all of our free patterns, this Repeating Pattern can also be downloaded as a 2D CAD sketch in .dwg format or as a vector illustration in .svg and .eps file formats.

Since this is a repeating pattern, within the files  you can find the complete pattern, as well as it segment (core) with which you can create a pattern of any size and shape. Interlaced Saracenic repeating pattern is accurately drawn using a 2D CAD software and all geometric elements of pattern are lines and arcs.
